Seafang ●●●●
[/font][/blockquote][/blockquote] Inhaling sharply the strong scent of toad clogged the large ginger toms nostrils. With one last glance behind him, blue gaze closed going back through his path, ensuring he had covered his tracks correctly. Seafang had done this enough it was like the back of his paw, but one could never be too careful. These meetings were becoming tedious for the deputy, eventually it would be easier for him to meet with the others, once his role was more established within Shadowclan. He was a newly appointed deputy, as Spicestar was a newer leader, he could not afford for any to question him now. However difficult it was for the warrior to keep his calm at points, this was better practice for him, it raised little suspicion, for now when he lost his temper. Many would chalk it up to him being new, under too much pressure, really it was some cats incompetence.
Ears pressing against his skull the massive ginger and white tom squeezed his bulk through the camp entrance, taking his large toad to the fresh kill pile, dropping it. Yawning he moved towards a sunny spot, lowering his bulk the deputy began grooming his chest fur, ears pricked for the sounds of his clan mates. It was near dawn when he had returned, tedious planning. Nothing would happen, not for some time. If things escalated too soon or plans were enacted before their time cats would be suspicious. He was grateful to Spicestar for giving him his position, and eventually, she would fall. Seafang hoped he would not have to do it himself, history had taught him those who took our their leaders with their own paws typically failed, others found out, clans rallied against him, they were killed or driven out. That would not be him. Seafang had been taught their mistakes, those he would not do.
Closing his eyes for a moment, the massive tom allowed his dreams to take reality. Him addressing the clan, a powerful she-cat below him with his kits, kits he could train. Then at a gathering, three other she-cats with his kits. His blood in each clan, one day ruling. Then himself at the highest branch at the gathering, each kit on a branch below him, leader of their own clan. Blue eyes opening he blinked at the sunlight, a grin spreading across his muzzle for only a moment before vanishing. While yes he was not a personal fan of kittypets or loners, he saw a point to them. Going through a list of things he would change, Seafang noted he would allow them to join. New blood, new cats to train and manipulate could easily aide him. Fluffed tail flicked as a far off eagle cried, probably heading towards Windclan territory, for a rabbit or idiotic cat to catch.
Bright blue gaze flicked to the entrance one more time, going back through his night. Nothing reported for the other clans, that was fine. He did not expect anything. His pawprints and scent covered. There was little sign he had been near the border. If others questioned his early hunting most knew him to be a restless sleeper, at least that was what he had lead them to believe. The large tom unable to sleep frequently, going hunting or patrolling on his own. Instead of meeting with other cats, discussing the future, the simpletons.

Heronleap traversed the swampy marshes with ease; he'd been able to ever since kithood. The darkness may have been a prison, but at least he had free-range behind the locked bars. He'd never see what this thing called the sun, or grass, or pinecones. But at least he could tell he was home by the pungent smell of ShadowClan. And the obnoxious cats that went along with it. That including Seafang, being the arrogant, condescending cat he was. While Heronleap shared similar qualities with the tom, at least he wasn't conceited.
Why had he brought up Seafang, the Deputy, so suddenly? Because his smell was everywhere. So strong almost to the point where he couldn't even detect any other warriors. What was he, marking or something? Dominating the entire camp? That was why Heronleap didn't trust the tom at all. He had this overwhelming stench of ambition, too much. To the point of foolishness. Soon enough, his stench was going to overtake the whole forest.
Probably not in the way Heronleap was thinking.
He stopped suddenly, feeling the wet mud beneath his toes. Assuming he had wandered closer to the marshes than from camp, he realized he needed to head back, or else he'd wind up in the Pinecone forest. And walking along, being unable to tell where the dreaded cones were on the forest floor... it hurt. The needles weren't very forgiving for being stepped on, usually clinging to his pads for dear life, and then he'd have to get Ivyheart to pluck them out. He didn't really care for her that much, since she replaced his former caretaker. Maybe that wasn't fair to the young she-cat, but that was just the way he was.
So, he turned around, knowing he was headed towards the direction of camp when he heard the all-too-familiar sound of cricket chirps. They, along with ShadowClan, made their little nest in a large pine tree near the center of the camp, loving to chirp along to the sleeping cats. It drove Heronleap insane and took his sleep away, but he became used to it enough to be able to sleep nonetheless.
He nearly tripped over a large log, the one that marked the entrance to camp. In all fairness, he should've been paying attention, but he'd still find someone else to blame like he always did. Marching towards the edge of camp with a stubbed toe, he began licking it and nibbling on it to drive the pain away.
And that's when he noticed he had taken a spot right next to the infamous Seafang. Right on accident. Good going.
"What are you looking at?" He instantly hissed, taking a few steps away from him in an effort to escape.

Seafang ●●●●
[/font][/blockquote][/blockquote] A peaceful morning was quickly interrupted by one of the few cats that openly distrusted him, Heronleap. By all accounts Heronleap should be deputy, he was older, more experienced than Seafang, the two had similar personalities, but different goals. Yet it was Seafang who was deputy, and Seafang Heronleap must listen. Snorting in annoyance as the other tom questioned him, blue eyes rolled in their sockets. "I believe it was you who came to me first Heronleap. Something I can help you with?" he asked as politely as possible, the hint of sarcasm always present. The ginger and ivory tom waited, knowing Heronleap would leave soon enough. The two were like oil and water, never mixing, they would never see eye to eye. A smirk danced across his muzzle at the thought of Heronleap needing to listen to him as leader, once Spicestar was gone.
A thought crossed Seafang's mind, his expression never changing not wanting to expose himself. Where had he been? There was no way Heronleap could have followed him, Seafang had followed his path more than once, he knew if he was being followed. He had covered his scent as much as he needed too, he was sure of that. Rising Seafang watched the warrior, his body larger than Heronleap, but there were few in any clan larger than Seafang. His gaze narrowing, daring the other to make a move. "What were you doing out so early Heronleap? I was going to ask you for an early patrol, but you might be too tired now." he said with a sneer, giving an innocent play towards Heronleap, questioning why he was out so late, and if he was perhaps too weak and tired for a patrol.
Truth be told Seafang had not chosen a patrol yet or hunting patrol. He supposed he would lead one, then go from there. He doubted Spicestar would want one, leaders were typically too busy. Blue gaze glanced back to the fresh kill pile, stepping away from Heronleap to grab a squirrel, leaving the plump toad for another cat. Moving back to his spot he lay back down beginning to rip the fur from his prey, noticing it had been caught yesterday, a bit old for him.
Heronleap would be a good ally, yet the two were too similar Seafang had noted long ago, assuming Heronleap knew the same thing, which was one of the many reasons they bickered so much. To have more in Shadowclan would be helpful, yet for now he would remain quiet, hoping to gain an apprentice soon. Manipulating the young was always easier than warriors.

Owlpaw
[/font][/blockquote][/blockquote] " god made everything out of nothing, but the nothingness shows through " A small, dark brown tabby cat pushed his way through the forests of ShadowClan territory, his mouth hidden behind a pile of assorted herbs. He seemed to be muttering behind the plants as he maneuvered his way through the new area quickly, trying to get back to the camp. Owlpaw's dark green eyes glinted with the occasional broken sunlight slanting through the pine trees as he finally made it to the log and ducked around it, winding up in the camp.
He put the herbs down for a second and looked around with his head held low, a fierce and sour expression on his face. His mentor, Ivyheart, didn't seem to be in the main camp so she was most likely in the den. Well, he was at least glad he had been told to go find some herbs - it gave him a chance to explore the territory and he had the chance to reorganize Ivyheart's herb stocks. Their disorganization gave him a migraine every time he looked at the mess. He frowned. Really, his mentor should be able to keep her things organized without him having to come in and fix it for her! "Unorganized little...oh for the love of..." he complained bitterly, picking up the herbs again. He stalked past Seafang and Heronleap without acknowledging either of their presences. All these cats had the same face to him, and as long as they kept their faces out of his, he did NOT need to be cavorting with anyone.
"Here are those herbs you asked for." he said once he made it back into the den. He picked them up again, keeping them in their piles as he started to separate the herbs into piles according to name, size, color, age, and neatness. While he was at it, he took the rotting herbs out and pushed them towards the mouth of the den (also in a very neat pile) until he would go trash them. Once everything was in their appropriate piles and he could relax for a moment, he turned around and picked up the rejected plants and started towards the camp entrance to get rid of them.

Ivyheart ♥ ♥ ♥
[/font][/blockquote][/blockquote] “i cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad.”
[/center] Ivyheart was a strange cat. Everyone she knew agreed on that. So, it came as no surprise when she found herself sitting in the farthest corner of her den, her eyes locked on a collection of cobweb and her mind completely oblivious to everything going about around her. Doing this was practically a habit of hers. So when she found a patient she was particularly set on curing, which was a lot of patients, she'd immerse herself completely their wounds and forget her surroundings. Currently, she was wrapping multiple scratched placed on a especially finicky apprentice, and as she wound the webs thoroughly, she didn't seem to notice the voices talking a fair distance behind her, nor did she feel the presence of her apprentice walking through the den. Ivyheart shook her head at a particularly stupid mistake she had made. Honestly, who forgets to chew up Comfrey Root and place it on the wound as a poultice? Even a kit wouldn’t make that kind of mistake. No, she had already placed Horsetail to the scratches. That would soothe it. “Ugh, I’m sorry, Littlepaw,” Ivyheart sighed as she helped the tiny apprentice to his feet. “That’s about as much as I can do for now. You can rest in my den if you like, and I can give you a few Poppy Seeds for comfort, but you’ll have me and Owlpaw to deal with.” The tom-cat nodded and said nothing, looking past the she-cats shoulder and towards the approaching apprentice. “Oh, and please, don’t go wandering through the thorn bushes again. They’re there for a reason, to keep cats out.” The little tom’s eyes began to widen. “Hm?” she murmured. Suddenly, she spotted the shadow of Owlpaw standing close behind her and whirled around. She clenched her teeth, breaking a strand of Horsetail she still held between them. “Here are the herbs you asked for.” Ivyheart nodded and spit the remaining strands of Horsetail back into their appropriate pile. “Thank you, Owlpaw,” she replied calmly, her tone sounding more guarded than usual. She and Owlpaw were never close. She was messy, he annoyed her. Both naturally blunt and critical, they were obviously not a match made in the stars. “Oh, and Owlpaw.” But he had already started towards the camp entrance. Ivyheart sighed, taking a moment to yawn before casually licking her paw and swiping it over her left ear. She was hungry. Had the kits and queens eaten yet? She stood to glance out of the den and toward the center of camp. Heronleap and Seafang were already out, she might as well steal a bite to eat too. With a shake of her coat, Ivy began towards the fresh kill pile. “I take it the Queens have eaten, yes?” she asked coldly, turning her startlingly light green gaze towards Seafang as she passed him. It seemed he had already begun eating. That was typical. After all, common courteously didn’t apply to uppity tom-cats, now did it? Ivyheart eyed the pile. She didn’t really have anything against the Deputy, honestly. She just didn’t like him much. He was charming, handsome, and quite charismatic, yes, but that was exactly what Ivy hated about him. She glanced up and smiled at Heronleap, although he wasn’t much better either. [/size][/justify][/blockquote]

Heron noticed the two Medicine Cats walking by, Owlpaw giving him a mean-look, while Ivyheart, a soft smile. He really didn't care much for her, but he returned her smile in kind... a kind of sarcastic smile, if that sort of thing existed. He turned his attention from her to the cat he had accidentally stumbled upon, knowing it would be impossible to escape a patrol. Especially when you had to do it with Seafang. "What were you doing out so early Heronleap? I was going to ask you for an early patrol, but you might be too tired now."
|
[/s] Heronleap twitched angrily at his sneer. "No, no, I had just finished hunting," he lied, licking his mouth as if he were tasting frogs or mice, "and I just put it all in the fresh-kill pile. I really don't need to do a patrol. Unnecessary." Maybe it wouldn't get him out of a patrol, but it was a try. He couldn't just let Seafang order him around, despite his higher position. In his mind, Seafang didn't deserve that Deputy position. He didn't think himself to be in that position either, and he was certain the reason why he wasn't chosen was because... of his disability. Perhaps the leader dislike how helpless he was, and she couldn't see how well he had progressed despite life's attempt to hold him back? Whatever, Heronleap didn't even want that position anyway. He just wished Seafang didn't have it. If it means Seafang could have never become deputy, then Heronleap would have probably taken up the position. "Why don't you go get some of the apprentices to do a patrol. I'm pretty sure they need the training." He grunted and turned away, not even picking at his food anymore.
