Appearance
Spicestar is a beautiful calico she-cat. She is mostly white, with short, soft fur. Her eyes are a stunning green that is both soft and alluring. Her paws are somewhat small, but she has decent-sized claws. Her head is white-faced, with an orange top and orange ears. There is a small black spot on the base of her right ear, on the bone above her eye. The orange on her head stops a bit before her shoulders, where there are three small spots of orange in a triangular formation, and the rest of her is white except for her sides. Her right side has a black “W” mark on it, with splotches of orange around it. Her left side has spots of black and orange in small patches in a very concentrated area. Her tail is a striped mix of the orange and black of her fur, which ends in a very small whitish tip.
Personality
Spicestar was named accordingly. Her personality is an assortment of pros and cons, from being sweet to being very fiery and determined. The she-cat is wonderful at making split-second decisions, and does well under pressure. She can snap if she is forced a way she does not wish to go, and will break rather than bending. Spicestar believes in rules for a reason, and does not like to wander from them. She is not one to follow her heart unless her ideals match those of the guidelines set up to run her Clan. She is fiercely loyal, and will not betray anyone. She had a natural prejudice of the other Clans, but her heart is not ice toward them, and she does not like to do anything to them without a justifiable reason first. As a friend, she will never hurt you. As a leader, she sees the Clan far above the individual. She does not like to have many friends, for they interfere with and can cloud judgment in times of jeopardy, but she gets along well with most cats, and especially with kits and apprentices.
History
Spicekit was a fireball to handle. Her family was proud to have such beautiful, elegant kits, but they were often overwhelmed by Spicekit’s attitude and temperament. She was as full of ferocity as a little tiger. She was hardly sweet, and enjoyed pulling pranks and tormenting the others in the Clan. No cat thought she would shape up to make anything of herself, and most ShadowClanners assumed she would get herself killed before even becoming a Warrior. She was the bane of the existence of everyday felines, and they were all certain that whoever was forced to mentor her would be in for a special treat. When she was six moons old, she was given the name Spicepaw, and the mentor Owlstar, the Clan’s leader.
Spicepaw immediately tested her mentor’s patience, but it didn’t matter. Owlstar was strong, and as stubborn as Spicepaw. She could never pull one over on him, and he simply refused to let her get away with anything. The two went face-to-face quite often, but Owlstar always seemed to win. Their battles were somewhat of a spectacle among the Clanmates, and they all enjoyed watching the felines battle for supremacy. One day, much to everyone’s surprise, Spicepaw caved in. She woke with a different tune. Suddenly she was behaved, and happy, and calm, and collected. The other cats were shocked and completely certain that it was just another of her clever schemes, but it wasn’t. Owlstar had finally won.
Shortly after Spicepaw began to behave, the Clan began to notice a change in stubborn old Owlstar. He was less energetic, and a lot more quiet and reserved, as if taming the wild apprentice had taken a lot out of him. He lost a life naturally in his sleep, and awoke with only one left. However, this restored a lot of his usual mood and level of energy. He gave his apprentice the name Spicetail proudly when she was just ten moons; she had shaped up much faster than anyone had expected. Spicetail was a wonderful warrior, with both skills in hunting and fighting. She added so much more to the Clan now that she was behaved and acted like a true Warrior.
Russetstep, the Deputy at the time, passed away in a fight against a twoleg dog who had gotten off its leash and come too close to the camp. Owlstar, with the Clan’s full support, was even happier to announce his apprentice—only eighteen moons—was now both a mentor and the new Deputy. Spicetail was shocked at such an honor, as her mentor had not even talked to her about it beforehand, but she could not refuse to help the Clan she loved. Her apprentice was the infamous troublemaking cat Lilypaw, who was the new thorn in ShadowClan’s paw. Spicetail used all she had learned from Owlstar to make her apprentice into a fine young warrior. The two became very close friends, just as Spicetail had grown to love old Owlstar.
Owlstar lost his last life naturally in his sleep, too, at the age of 85 moons. He was the oldest cat ever to have lived in ShadowClan, and all the cats were sad to see their beloved figure go. He was given a mighty burial ceremony, and suddenly the pressure mounted on Spicetail. She had so much to live up to, especially since she had known what an incredible cat Owlstar had been. He was a second father to her, her best friend, and the one tom she could always trust. Taking on the responsibilities of a leader was a greater task than she had ever imagined. Still, she knew that she had been chosen for a reason. And so Spicestar was given her nine lives, the last the life of The Clan by Owlstar. She has yet to uncover what he meant by those two words, but she will never stop trying to keep her Clan safe, healthy, happy, and as proud as it ever was.
