Her duties as an apprentice were slipping between her paws, and she knew this too well. But it always seemed that, day after day, her focus started to dwindle, her memory failing her. The herbs seemed to just melt together until they were all but recognizable. Looked more like some sort of weird mesh between deathberries and catmint. She was trying; she really was, but something was getting to her lately. And she just couldn't quite put her paw on it. And she needed this solved if she was going to actually do some work around the den.
At the moment, said mentor was out, doing who-knows-what. Probably picking some more herbs that would just mess with her head. If Snowmint brought back any more strange herbs, Breezepaw's head might just explode. An overload of information was rushing in, and she couldn't comprehend it all at once. Maybe it was just best to tell Snowmint what was going on? Surely she'd understand... but then she'd be showing weakness, that she can't handle the pressure of being a Medicine Cat. What if she was fired? Is that even possible? Breezepaw didn't want to find out. She'd just have to shake it off.
For now, the sleepy apprentice was sorting the herbs on their correct shelves, making sure they were in the right spots. But with her recent herb-mix-mashup, she kept second-guessing herself in what was right. More than once had she just tore down the entire shelves and tried starting again, doing her best to recognize herbs by smell, looks, and (yack!) taste. Some of those berries did not taste good.
After rearranging the shelf for practically the fourth time, she decided she'd best get some food, clear her mind. Rest a little. So, she carried herself out of the den, a certain glowing aura of disappointment following her like a raincloud above her head. Of course, no one could see it; they only saw the shy, chipper Breezepaw that everyone knew. A mask covering herself. Normally, that was the way she acted. Today was different, and she wasn't sure why.
