heronleap
tom | shadowclan | 22 moons | warrior

Appearance
while heronleap looks like a fluffy tom, his muscles are actually hidden well beneath his fur. despite looking quite feminine, he has a masculine structure, such as narrowed eyes and bulky muscles. most she-cats consider him to be a handsome tom, but he sees nothing. after all, he is blind. because he was blind from birth, he doesn't know what true beauty is. he can't put a name to a face, or a tag to someone, such as "hot" or "ugly." when others call him handsome, he can't really respond to it.
his eyes are a blind, pale green-gray and match his black-gray and white coat. while his fur is gray underneath, black stripes and flecks cover most of it up, leaving a white chest, underbelly, paws, and muzzle. his fur is long and fluffy, meaning it gets dirty quite easily in shadowclan's swampy marshes. however, he cleans himself off by using the water surrounding the island, the once gathering place of the clans. his structure is that of strength and speed, although, his large ears enable him a stronger sense of hearing.
Personality
stubborn - condescending - impatient - insecure - hopeful - hopeless romantic
stubborn - being a blind oaf with a bad view on life, heron can be stubborn at times. this can be in many more ways than one; he could be disagreeing with an idea, refuse to obey an order, snap at the medicine cat, etc. he especially hates being told what to do, and doesn't take instructions too kindly. but while he dislikes doing it, he does it for the sake of the clan. it's not that he's lazy, he just has a hard time following orders for many reasons: he wants to be invisible, stand in with the crowd, and be left alone.
condescending - this is where apprentices may have a rough time with him. heck, anybody can have a problem with this oaf: he always condescends. whether it's a battle technique or a chore done wrong, he's always got to point out something bad. call him a pessimistic, but he only does this so that apprentices with great potentials can become even greater. he wants to see them shine, no pun intended.
impatient - he hates being made to wait, and usually expects things to be done without telling them to do so. everyone spreads the rumor that he believes everyone is psychic, and that they should be able to crack into his mind and know what he wants. but his patience with apprentices is limited, which can make training brutal and hard. however, he only wants them to be an overachiever, and get the approval of the leader without even being told once. it'll get them somewhere, and it'll get them there fast.
insecure - on the inside, heron isn't sure of himself. he always wonders if cats think he's a terrible cat, but he doesn't think he should change himself. he just wants acceptance and respect. because, when he was born a blind kit, most never believed he would become a warrior. well, look where he is now.
hopeful - he was always hopeful that, one day, he'd do great things. but as his life went on, he started to notice that nothing changed. cats still think he's as hopeless as ever. well, that's not going to happen. he'll keep pushing to be something great one day, whether that's a leader, a starclan elder, or whatever it is he's destined to be. yes, he is a great starclan believer, which comes from his hope.
hopeless romantic - he's never had a good luck with love. most she-cats drool over him, but it's only for his looks. he wants a cat that will love him for who he is on the inside, not out. because he's all about the depths of a cat, not the way they look. to him, looks don't matter. only their attitude and personality.
History
he was born in shadowclan, a blind and all alone kit. his father had died before his birth, and his mother during his birth. lost in the world, covered in darkness, he was cared for by the medicine cat. but he always hated who he was. whether it was because he blamed himself for his mother's death, or that he was born blind, no one really knows. he grew irritable and distant when he was in the nursery, and even more so during his apprenticeship. heron was all alone: no friends, no family, no nothing. the only cat who truly cared for him was the medicine cat, and he despised them.
to be honest, he never knew why he hated them so much. was it because they cared for him and baby-ed him? even he himself couldn't understand, but he kept his distance nonetheless. in fact, he kept his distance from just about everyone. his day schedule was as follows: wake up, train, catch food, sleep. he never shared tongues with anyone, never go to know anybody. it was amazing that the leader still knew he existed, and he received his warrior ceremony. it was quite easy for him to sit vigil, since he never talked much anyways. and when he did, it was usually an insult.
it was only a day afterwards that the medicine cat died. flowerspeck, the one who cared for him. and that was the first time in his life he ever felt remorse and regret. because she died feeling that he didn't love her like a mother. died feeling hurt and used. so, if she could hear him, from up in starclan, he whispered into the thick night air: "I'm sorry."
